What is SET?
The mission of Safe Environment Training is to prevent sexual, physical or emotional abuse and/or neglect of children and young people through continued education, building awareness, and maintaining cea commitment to keeping all children and young people safe.

Who has to do SET?
In the Diocese of Phoenix all priests, deacons, employees, and volunteers serving at the parish are required to take Safe Environment Training annually. The Safe Environment year runs Jul 1 - Jun 30. Volunteers must complete the process before being allowed to volunteer.

How long does it take?
If you are new to SET, or did not complete training the previous year, you must complete an initial Foundation Course and fill out a background check. This can take up to two hours to complete. After the foundation is completed, the next year and each subsequential year, volunteers are asked to complete renewal training, which takes just 20 minutes.

How do! get SET certified?
SET training is offered online please visit phoenix.cmgconnect.org to log in or create your volunteer profile if you are new. Please do not create duplicate accounts. If you do not have access to a computer, please call the SET coordinator to set up an appointment to complete the training in the parish office.

Why do I have to take it, I don't volunteer with children?
It is imperative all who regularly volunteer on our campus know how to conduct themselves, and know what to look for in order to keep our children safe. Even if your ministry does not directly interact with children, it is crucial to know what to look for and how to report suspicious interactions.
