The Ascension of the Lord

“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

Sound familiar? We are Baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity. Jesus gave His disciples exactly what to say and the power given to Him by His Father, to teach in His name.

“And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Christ has not left us alone. We encounter Him in the Sacraments. We receive His True Presence in the Eucharist. We kneel before the living God in Adoration.

At every Mass said, over 350,000 times a day around the world—Jesus shows up.  That’s four Masses beginning every second. Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist. Think about that for a minute. We get to receive the Lord and King of the Universe in Communion.

Why would we ever let anything take us away from this priceless gift?

We are left today with this prompt, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky?

We all have work to do as Catholics—spread the Good News, stay close to Jesus and love like crazy. The Holy Spirit is coming, to set us on-fire, and continue what Christ started.
