Art and Environment Ministry
The objective of this group of volunteers is to create a liturgical environment that is consistent with the liturgical season. This is accomplished by decorating the environment with the symbols and colors of the various seasons on the liturgical calendar. Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Ordinary Times all have a different emphasis. Certain liturgical seasons are busier than others such as Holy Week where the environment is changed three times in one week. This ministry is made up of those who wish to work as part of a creative team. Artistic and design skills are desired but not required.
Time Commitment: Time varies according to the liturgical season. We try to limit our work time
to no more than 3 hours per day and spread the work out over several days.
Our parishioner Bereavement Support Ministry meets the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in the Room 9. This ministry provides comfort to parishioners who have lost a loved one. The opportunity to share, read, and reflect, in a small group setting, helps those in attendance find encouragement for changes in their lives while working through their grief journey. This parishioner support group comes together to help each other navigate through the grief journey. Ministry Coordinators have attended the Bereavement Care Training provided by the Diocese of Phoenix. To learn more about this ministry, contact the parish office at (480) 838-7474. No professional counseling is offered.

The group dusts, vacuums the church/chapel and sacristy, cares for the sacred vessels, and cleans the fingerprints from the glass in the church. There is nothing strenuous about this ministry. It is a group of parishioners who donate one to two hours of their time once a month.
This dynamic group has a smile for everyone after the 9 AM and 11AM Masses on Sundays. The service requirement depends on the number of available volunteers willing to serve coffee and donuts September – May. This ministry of hospitality is an activity that will have you meeting new people almost instantly. Also a perfect ministry for families to become involved in together!
Finance Council is four member ministry charged with overseeing the financial operations of the parish. The Church of the Holy Spirit is looking to start a new ministry that caters to hospitality. The “Holy Spirit Goodwill Ambassadors” will host different social events throughout the year. Whether its greeting guests at a special mass or serving refreshments after the Lecture series, this group will be empowered to share the Spirit of welcoming around the parish. Not all ambassadors will work every event and each will always be asked of their availability before hand. If you think this is a great way for you to get involved in the parish, please e-mail me at bprice@holyspirit-tempe-az.org and I will be happy to add you to our list of worthy ambassadors.
This outreach organization assists both parishioners and those who visit our parish who are in need of food and other staples of life. “Helping Hands” is especially looking for individuals who would be willing to meet with clients in the parish office to assess and provide one on one assistance with food requests. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 10:00 AM - Noon.

The Porters of St. Joseph is a devout Catholic security apostolate with the mission to provide a safe environment at Catholic parishes so the Faithful can worship God in peace and security. Here at Holy Spirit we are building a team of faithful men who feel the call to serve the Church by putting their courageous, heroic, masculine hearts at the service of their parishes.
This group of parish volunteers actively prays for those who have been added to our Prayer Advocates list. Notification of prayers requested is sent via e-mail. No meetings are required. Simply the dedicated commitment to pray for those who have requested prayers from the parish is all that is required.
Care and the love of knitting (and crocheting) have been combined into this prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted/crocheted into every item. Ministry members begin each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl and upon completion of each shawl, prayer cloth, or lap blanket, the item is then blessed by our Pastor. If you have ever knitted or crocheted it will come back to you quickly. We can teach beginners. Our Prayer Shawl Ministry meets Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in Hanley Hall. Come join us!
This ministry assists by helping to make the parish a center of life, a place where parishioners understand the issues and the importance of meeting the needs of those who are most vulnerable - especially mothers and their unborn children and those who are seriously ill or dying and their families. For more information, contact the parish office (480) 838-7474.

Each evening we gather to prayer the Holy Rosary or the Chaplet of St. Michael for special intentions and especially for the protection for our Priests. Then, we go deeper, invoking the intercession of St. Sharbel by praying his Chaplet for healing, health, conversion, and any personal intention. (Everyone receives a St. Sharbel Chaplet handmade). Finally, we close with Lectio Divina, a brief reflection on Holy Scripture. ALL ARE WELCOME!!
